TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -Hundreds of people who have received medical care at one of the three Concentra Urgent Care locations in Tucson may have had their personal and medical records information stolen.
Concentra has locations in 38 states, and its records are handled by the large company Medical Informatics Engineering.
MEI reps said they learned one of their servers was hacked through the month of May.
Almost 4 million people had private information such as social security numbers, medical conditions, names and addresses stolen.
The company alerted the federal government of the hack last week, and said they are now alerting patients.
Yet many Concentra patients said they haven’t heard anything.
“Well I’m shocked, I never heard that before,” said Bonnie Serrano. “I’m kind of shocked, because of what you told me.”
Olivia Menna said her boyfriend gets treatment at Concentra.
“I know the way people are nowadays, they’re very evil, and that kind of way, and they do evil things to steal your identity,” she said.
Concentra sent out a statement that reads in part:
“We are diligently working with Medical Informatics Engineering to pass on all relevant information to help patients understand this breach and put provisions in place to protect themselves.”
The company will be sending out letters to people whose identities may have been compromised, and will be offering them credit monitoring services to check for ID fraud.
“I definitely question whether or not I want to use them again,” said John Stevens, a Concentra patient.
