Chaffetz Calls for OPM Resignations, ‘Strongest Possible Action’ Against Hackers

US Congress(WASHINGTON) — The top Republican on the House Oversight Committee is calling for the resignations of OPM Director Katherine Archuleta and CIO Donna Seymour following the personnel data breach.
“If we want different results, it’s going to be time … for them to go,” Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, the chairman of the House Oversight and Governmental Affairs Committee, told reporters on Tuesday following  the House all-member closed OPM hack briefing from Jeh Johnson, Archuleta and other officials.  “Whether the president fires them or they resign, we have to have a change.”
Chaffetz also called on the president to take “the strongest possible action” against the perpetrators of the hack.
“I think they have a good sense who it is, and the president has needs to react to that,” Chaffetz said, though he didn’t elaborate when pressed on the type of response he’d like to see.
“There has to be a consequence for somebody hacking at this level. And it scares me what they might do with that information,” he answered before heading to a vote.
