Computer Hackers Wanted…by the Pentagon

The pilot program is called “Hack the Pentagon”-and it’s the first of its kind in the history of the federal government”.

Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook announced on Wednesday in Washington DC that Defence Secretary Ash Carter met Schmidt during the annual RSA Security Conference in San Francisco, Xinhua reported. “Once vetted, these hackers will participate in a controlled, limited duration program that will allow them to identify vulnerabilities on a predetermined department system”.

Pentagon officials said details of the contest are still being worked out but the competition could involve monetary awards.

Carter said the turbulence caused by recent budget battles was not helpful for managing the Pentagon and gave allies and potential enemies the false impression that the US military was in disarray when it was actually investing well overall. The service is composed of engineers connected with the US Digital Service, which aims to enhance the technological capabilities of the DOD. For the full article click here
