Bank Assaults Involving SWIFT have Links with Hackers behind Sony Breach

According to Symantec Corp the cyber security firm, hackers behind robbing the central bank of Bangladesh to steal $81m are understood to have connection with another cyber assault which was. against a Philippines situated bank. Before that in 2014, they were also responsible for the hack against SPE (Sony Pictures Entertainment).

In case substantiated, the Philippines situated bank attack would be counted as the fourth reported online assault on certain bank with the aid of fake SWIFT messages. Standing for Society for Worldwide Inter-bank Financial Telecommunication, SWIFT in the current week recommended that banking institutions required enhancing their security, given that the Society knew about multiple attacks unfolding.

It is also known that the tools employed for infiltrating the personal computers at Philippines’ bank happened to be same as those that certain batch of hackers known as “Lazarus” had employed for allegedly carrying out cyber assaults serially from 2009, including one massive breach of data at SPE 2-yrs back, writes Symantec in a blog.
