Hackers Are Stealing Your MySpace Credentials, You Should Delete Your Unused Account Now

Remember that MySpace account you had many years ago? You better delete it, quick!

It is reported that it still has details of users, with a hefty chunk of those account credentials now leaked online.

Business Wire reported that MySpace, a Time Inc. company and social networking site, has been the victim of a hacking incident, and stolen user login data which include usernames, passwords and email addresses were being made available in an online hacker forum.

As many as 360 million MySpace accounts had turned up for sale last Friday in a 33-gigabyte dump online, which were stolen in a hack dating to June 2013.

MySpace is in the process of notifying all affected users and reported the incident to the authorities. It has also disabled the affected passwords so leaked credentials cannot be used to access the accounts.

Jeff Bairstow, Time Inc. Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, stated, “We take the security and privacy of customer data and information extremely seriously—especially in an age when malicious hackers are increasingly sophisticated and breaches across all industries have become all too common. Our information security and privacy teams are doing everything we can to support the Myspace team.” For the full article click here
