Jake Hausler’s father says living with the 12-year-old is like living with a computer.
In most ways, his son is normal, but if you ask Jake to recall what happened on any given date — even one year ago — he can tell you.
A team of scientists at Washington University School of Medicine is mapping Hausler’s brain, hoping it will lead to a fuller understanding of memory. He is one of the subjects of “Nova’s”
“Memory Hackers,” airing Tuesday.
Hausler is the youngest person ever discovered with HSAM, or Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory, meaning he can remember practically everything that ever happened to him in his life. It almost seems like a parlor trick as he lists events from random days, but he says it’s more like having an iPhone calendar in his head he can access. For the full article click here
