Islamic State hackers targeted ministerial email accounts in an effort to access information for assassinations of high-level targets, it has been claimed.
An investigation by GCHQ revealed that communications and devices of members of the cabinet had been attacked in a sophisticated effort, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The discovery of the hacking operation, which prompted new Whitehall security measures in May, was said to be linked to the drone strike operation
