Australians the number one target in the world for hackers with more Netflix accounts than ever being sold on the black market

Australians have become the number one target in the world for hackers with Netflix accounts and personal information being stolen and sold online.

A new study has revealed Australians are the leading victims of ransomware with the threat having increased 141 per cent in the past year, according to online security giant Symantec.

The second biggest cyber risk is having online accounts with services such as Netflix, PlayStation, and others stolen and sold on the black market.

Ransomware is when someone is able to get hold of information people store on their phone, computer, or online account, and then lock it so the owner does not have access to it.

In most cases, the hacker will offer to sell the information back for between $550 and $1100 using the untraceable online currency Bitcoin. For the full article click here
