Turkish hacker group has launched a cyber-attack interrupting operations of many websites of Armenian government, including energy, defense and agriculture ministries along with other state agencies, causing non-operational for long.
Hacker group namely ‘Aslan Neferler Tim’ (closely translated to Lion Privates Team) claimed the accountability for the social media accounts attack.
Nagorno-Karabakh, a separated region of Azerbaijan with a primarily Armenian population, experienced more violence on 2nd April. A ceasefire happened on Tuesday between Azerbaijan and forces of Nagorno-Karabakh. Sputniknews.com posted on 6th April, 2016, quoting Defense Ministry as saying on earlier Wednesday “the Armenian forces had violated the ceasefire 115 times during past 24 hours.”
The websites are targeted within the short-term regeneration of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that has dominated the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia for two decades. The Daily Sabah reported quoting the hacker group as claiming “we will increase cyber-attacks”. The same Turkish hacker group had before claimed the responsibility for attacking websites of Armenian Central Bank and the main webpage of Anonymous, a well-known hacker group.
