Hackers steal Streets of New York credit card data

– It’s a popular Valley restaurant chain known for is pizza, but now “The Streets of New York” owners are dealing with a problem that is affecting its customers.

The business fell victim to hackers who were able to steal credit card information from patronsIt doesn’t look like it was a large security breach, but rather a few hundred customers. The hackers involved tried to extort $10,000 from the owners; that is when the FBI got involved.

“We got a notification through a private message on Facebook saying someone had hacked into our website or part of our website,” said Rick Peterson.

The hackers wanted $10,000 in BitCoin to keep the customer information private. Peterson says at first they didn’t think it was legitimate and then had their IT guy look into it.

“He researched it and said no, this is real, and then we had to try and find out what it was that they did,” said Peterson. For the full article click here
